Parent hub
Self-care is a necessary part of being a good parent. When you are constantly juggling your responsibilities, it’s easy to forget about your own well-being. However, taking care of yourself is not only beneficial to you but to your family as well. Yoga is a great way to begin your self-care journey. It’s a calming practice that can improve your physical and mental health, reduce stress, and increase your overall sense of well-being. I am here to provide parents with the tools and resources they need to start their yoga journey and take care of themselves.
A Yoga Mat
Gaiam Yoga Mats
I absolutely love Gaiam Yoga mats. Though they are not forever lasting (I am still trying to find a yoga matt that is), they tend to have lovely designs and a nice thickness to ensure that they are flexible (in terms of storage) and still soft enough to protect your joints.
Yoga Blocks
Improve your flexibility
I only started using yoga blocks two years ago, despite the fact that I have been practising yoga for 15 years now. I thought that they weren't necessary and made me seem more like a beginner. How wrong was I... since starting to incorporate them into my practice I have noticed an increased ability to deepen my stretches and to work on balancing poses more effectively! I am linking some here (you can also buy them together with yoga straps, but I find those sold individually tend to have a better feel to them. The ones I am sharing here are also eco-friendly (a huge bonus in my personal opinion).
Straps
A good yoga strap
A good yoga strap is vital to help you push yourself and improve your flexibility. This one that I have found has the added benefit of easily helping you adjust the intensity of the stretches by giving you the different levels - making it also useful for physical therapy and - of course - a fun tug of war with +2 kids!
Light on Yoga
Read up on the theory behind the ancient art of yoga
This is a fantastic text - a great place for beginner, intermediate and advanced yogis to delve into. Beloved by almost all yoga teachers, this modern yogi's "bible" will help you understand the theory behind yoga, as well as introduce you to the asanas and pranayamas.
